How did the Frazee Dream Center begin?

Jenny and Matt Reeves had a dream to make a difference in the lives of under resourced children. In the summer of 2006, through an amazing set of circumstances, they discovered an abandoned church building located on the edge of one of the most impoverished areas in downtown Greenville. Through donations, the down payment was provided and the dilapidated 50,000 square foot building, full of potential, became theirs. Wanting to devote their full attention to this project, Matt and Jenny sold their landscaping business to begin the work of investing in the children and families living in the neighborhood near the building.

It was all too obvious that the children and families of this neighborhood needed hope and help. After building relationships with people in the community, Matt and Jenny and several other couples who shared in their desire and dream, decided that an after school program would be the first step in making a difference in this neighborhood. In the fall of 2006, work began to renovate the gym facility and five spacious classrooms.

The doors of The Frazee Dream Center opened in January of 2007. The staff and volunteers provide a free after school and summer program for children ages 6-13 who live in the west Greenville area. The building is also available for multiple community events and programs that serve the families of Greenville.
