An email from Frazee mentor, Tracy Sorrells

I've included a picture just for fun from Skytop Apple Orchard. Mahogany had never climbed a tree before, so of course, Coach Sorrells was adamant that she go to the TOP of an apple tree! I also included three pictures from the Furman game yesterday. Mahogany recognized Sterling Johnson (#23) since he volunteers on Mondays at Frazee, and he was really sweet to her after the game. But the main reason I am writing is that I wanted to let the staff and volunteers at Frazee know about a precious character trait that I observed with Mahogany yesterday at the football game...

In one of the pictures she's helping a little seven-year-old girl, a sweet family friend, who was also at the game with us. Mahogany is loving crocheting, thanks to Yolanda Slade's Overtime class, and she brought her big ole yellow bag of yarn and needles and scissors and patterns and projects with her into the stadium and into our seats (and under our feet and between our legs - well you get the picture.) Anyway, our little seven-year-old friend was enthralled with watching Mahogany do her crochet thing. Before I knew it, Mahogany had crawled over the bleacher seat with all her "stuff" and patiently sat with that little girl. For 3 quarters of the game, middle school Mahogany taught the seven-year-old how to crochet. Nobody asked her to help, she just saw a child who wanted to learn and she began to teach...

Now, what that says to me is several things...first of all, God put a servant's heart inside of our Divine Miss M, and it showed up on Saturday in such a sweet way. Secondly, her mama is doing something that makes that child WANT to help another child. And thirdly, y'all are doing a glorious job at Frazee of constantly modeling and reminding and nailing down for these kids how men and women of godly character should act. Thank you for pouring your lives out into these children - I was fortunate to see it spill over on Saturday.

Y'all are my heroes...

Blessings,
Tracy Sorrells
